About This Tour

  • The food of Jaipur reflects the geography of the region and has evolved according to its climatic conditions. Though Rajasthani food has a considerable amount of non-vegetarian meals, street food in Jaipur is mostly vegetarian.
  • This tour takes you through some of the most prominent street food joints across the city. The food items offered here are quite popular and are bound to fill your mouth with joy.
  • We meet at the Jaipur Junction Railway station and start this food walk, strolling towards the Sindhi Camp. Unlike others, this is a part food tour and part walking tour, so you get to take in the vivid sights of this royal city all around.
  • Once we reach Sindhi camp, the first time we would try is the scrumptious Pyaz Kachori at the Rawat Mishthan Bhandar. Take a bite of this fried puffed snack with an onion filling.
  • Savor it along with spicy garlic chutney. This would make your tastebuds go wild! If you found it too hot to take in, grab a Mawa Kachori. This is yet another puffed snack but with a sweet filling that you would fall in love with.
  • Now that you have had your handful of Kachoris, let's move a bit further to try other notable food joints. Along the way make sure to witness the day to day lives of the people of Jaipur revolving around you.
  • How about some sweet hotly brewed tea? There is only one place in the entirety of Jaipur that offers soul-soothing tea (Chai in Hindi). It is none other than Gulab Ji Chai.
  • Serving tea to locals for more than 90 years, Gulab Ji's chai tastes the same to date. It is quite popular across the city as you would find it crowded all the time. Have a cup of chai and grab some Mirchi Vada from the nearby stall. The sweetness of the tea would perfectly blend with the spicy fried chili cutlets.
  • Since we have to try more street food joints, we would have to walk to the famous bazaars of the city. On our way towards Bapu Bazaar, we stroll along the MI Road. This particular street is famous for the original Lassiwala.
  • While you are here don't forget to catch a glimpse of the vintage Raj Mandir Cinema. Established in 1944, this small shop sweet condensed buttermilk called Lassi that is sure to blow your mind away. And after the Mirchi Vada, this lassi will soothe your tummy.
  • After you have savored the last drop of the milky drink, walk ahead to come across the Prem Pan Bhandar. This place offers Mukvaas i.e. mouth fresheners in the form of sweetened betel leaves.
  • There are more than 100 varieties of Pan you can try but the two most popular ones are the Chocolate Pan and the Fire Pan. The famous Fire Pan is a sweet pan that is lit while it is fed to you. Don't worry! It won't hurt you but is a thrilling and flavorsome affair at the same time.
  • Moving on, we walk through the Ajmeri Gate and reach near the Sadar Bazaar. You could check out a wide range of shopping material right here. It is known as the biggest wholesale bangles market in Jaipur.
  • Cross the circle of Chhoti Chaupar and find a bustling food joint by the name of Lalaji Patashi. This place is famous for its Pani ki Patashe is also known as Golgappe or Pani Puri. Puffed balls full of sweet and spicy water is a true gastronomic delight for your tongue. Save some space in your tummy for the later part of this tour.
  • Now that you had your Patashe, we start walking east towards the Tripolia Gate. This is the perfect place for sightseeing since this vicinity hosts the most popular monuments of Jaipur. These include the Jantar Mantar, the City Palace, Maharaja Sawai Mann Singh II Museum and much more.
  • Find the Jagannath Sharma Pakodi Wale. Grab a plate of pakodas filled with a variety of vegetables and spices that are sure to flood your mouth. Relish these crunchy gram flour-covered snacks and admire the sights around you.
  • After you had your Pakodas, we walk further to find the symbol of Pink City - The Palace of Wind also known as Hawa Mahal. Admire its red sandstone structure and ornately carved jharokhas. Click some pictures outside it before continuing further.
  • After having so much food, dessert is mandatory. Welcome to the most popular dessert shop in the city - Pandit Kulfi. This place offers a cold chunk of sweet condensed milk that would melt in your mouth right away. Such a heavenly experience as you find cardamom, saffron, and pistachio in every single bite.
  • Even though this is an exclusive street food tour, it won't do just if we just ignore the cultural and heritage aspects of the city all around. You could shop for rare handicrafts at the Jaipur handicrafts market or some local jewelry at Johari Bazaar. Collect as many souvenirs as you wish on this incredible day trip. If your inner foodie is still not satisfied, there is one more place we could stop by.
  • Walk south and reach the vicinity of Albert Hall Museum. You find the famous Masala Chowk. This place is located in the Ram Niwas Garden and is a one-stop-shop for all your street food menu of Jaipur. Crowded at all times, more than a dozen stalls around this place offer street food such as Samosa, Chaat, Chana Masala, Ice cream Faluda, Rabdi, Shakes and even South Indian food like Masala Dosa, Uthhapamm, etc.
