Manjakuttai View Point, Yercaud
About Manjakuttai View Point
Manjukattai is the highlight of yercaud trip. It has the biggest view point set up. You can drive till the viewpoint. Has parking spot, with enough space to turn the car around. The road is slightly shoddy in the final 300 mtrs, risk it based on your car & driving ability!
Manjukattai faces eastward, and has a different kind of view of mountain slopes compared to - gents seat, ladies, children and pagoda (all these are west facing towards Salem City). It's breezy compared to the rest.
Approximately 15-20 minutes drive from Lake and can be visited while you are close to 32 km Loop Road. Good place to shoot panoramic photos. Note : there are no tourist amenities like washrooms or snack counters here. So plan accordingly.
Don't miss a sunrise visit to this place!
How to reach Majakuttai View Point?
The height of Manjakuttai Viewpoint appears to be less compared to other viewpoints in Yercaud, but one can enjoy the excellent view of the valley from here, it is a good place to shoot panoramic photos. From the ‘32 km loop road’ trip you can see the sign board to Manjakuttai viewpoint.
To reach Manjakuttai lookout tower take left immediately after the sign board at Manjakuttai Post office and Ration Shop (written only in Tamil) , go through the steep road between few small buildings which looks like a kids play school and local Panchayat's Grama Seva bhavan, etc for 900 meters.
Pros:
- Not so crowded place as compared to other.
- Mesmerising view from the top.
Cons:
- Quite and away from comercialization.the place is kept untidy and dirty with lot of trash and especially beer bottles thrown here and there.
- Be careful with little ones as they tend to pick everything from the floor. Glasses of broken bottles are being thrown everywhere.
- No food joints or shops around.
