About Himachal State Museum
Himachal State Museum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Shimla. In contrast with the scenic sights and adventure activities, the museum offers a cultural touch to the journey. Built as a residence for former military secretary of Viceroy of India, it was later converted into a museum in the year 1974. It houses several artifacts consisting of age-old coins, paintings, and antiques. A doll gallery is a place that leaves the visitors in awe that showcases numerous bridal dolls on display. It also exhibits a sculpture gallery with stone images dating back to the 8th century. With over 10,000 books and magazines from all around the world, the museum also sports a magnificent library.
