About ISKCON Temple, Ujjain
ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) temple in Ujjain, in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
"Ujjain is the city of temples, with more than 2000 temples and is one of the seven most auspicious pilgrimage cities in India." It is believed that Lord Krishna studied in Ujjain with his brother Balaram. It is located near the Nandkheda Bus Stand in Ujjain.
Architecture
The temple opened in 2006. It was built with white marble from the city of Makrana. Makrana is located in the state of Rajasthan and is known for its white marble also used to build the Taj Mahal. "There are three sancta sanctorum in the temple housing the idols of Lord Krishna and Radha with Gopis, Balarama and Krishna and Nitaai Gaur (incarnations of Krishna and Balarama)." It is the only fully solar-powered temple in Ujjain and in the ISKCON organization.
