Why Choose Sasangir Trip

Gir forest national park is a wildlife sanctuary in Gujarat, western India. Also known as SasanGir, Gir national park was established in 1965 with a total area of 1,412 km/sq. of which 258 SQ/KM is fully protected as a national park and 1,153 SQ/KM as a wildlife sanctuary. It was established to protect Asiatic lions, who frequent the fenced-off Devalia Safari Park, along with leopards and antelopes. Gir jungle trail outside the fenced area traverses the deciduous forest and is home to wildlife including vultures and pythons.

In the 19th century, the rulers of Indian princely states used to invite the British colonists for hunting expeditions. At the end of the 19th century, only about dozen of Asiatic lions were left in India, all of them in Gir forest, which was part of NawabJunaghar’s private hunting grounds. The safari sessions are divided into morning and evening sessions. Majorly evening sessions are good for tourists to visit. There the Lions don’t view humans as a threat and actually, it is possible to observe them from close range. As the evening sessions, one can come across many lazy lions.

Day time visitors visit the national park and at night the Habshi and Negro(small part of African people sprinkled in Gujarat junaghar around 500 years ago) people entertain with their cultural dance and traditional folks.
