November 27, 2014, was a stepping stone for India as it adopted the electronic transport authorization (ETA) facility, also known as ‘ETA’. The e-visa is being used for travel/tourism, business, and medical purposes. ETA was a big relief if you compare to the regular visa which was offered through the Indian embassy visit of the Indian government in the respective country.

While applying for an e-Visa, there is no necessity to provide your passport or other personal documents to the authority. Your e-Visa approval will be electronically forwarded to you prior to your departure to India. At the immigration level, your actual visa will be given to you inside your passport (validity should be at least 6 months). Applications must be made no less than 4 days or no more than 30 days prior to the date of the visit.
